Meta Partners With Apple to Run New Muse Spark AI Model on High-End Macs

Meta Platforms and Apple have partnered to enable Meta's newly launched open-weight AI model, Muse Spark Open, to run natively on high-end Mac computers. The 816-billion-parameter model features 42 billion active parameters and a 1-million-token context window designed for coding and agentic tasks. Local execution requires linking two to four Mac Studio workstations equipped with M5 Ultra processors, using Apple's MLX framework and demanding 256GB to 1 terabyte of memory. The initiative marks the companies' first public partnership since 2017, allowing developers to avoid renting third-party cloud computing.
