Apple Cuts Employee AI Tool Spending Limits to Rein in Operational Expenses

Apple has reduced daily employee spending allowances for artificial intelligence tools to curb rising operational expenses, according to Bloomberg News. The company lowered daily AI expenditure caps for certain engineers from $300 to $200 in October, with further potential reductions to $100 per day under consideration. Non-engineering employees, who currently face a $100 daily limit, could see caps drop to as low as $25 per day. The move follows a 32% jump in Apple's research and development expenses for fiscal year 2026, which helped push total operating expenses up 22% to $75.5 billion.
