APX Lending Opens Waitlist for Canada's First Bitcoin-Backed Mortgages Launching in Q1 2027

APX Lending has opened a customer waitlist to introduce Canada's first regulated bitcoin-backed mortgages, slated for launch in the first quarter of 2027. The product allows homebuyers to pledge bitcoin as collateral for down payments or property purchases instead of selling their assets, targeting Canada's $1.75 trillion residential mortgage debt market. Under the model, securing a $95,000 down payment requires $190,000 in bitcoin collateral. While collateral will be held via BitGo without rehypothecation, mortgage interest rates and specific liquidation terms remain undisclosed, though APX currently charges 9.99% to 11.49% on standard credit lines.
