Bitcoin and Gold Rank as Worst-Performing Major Assets in 2026, Data Shows

Bitcoin and gold have dropped to the bottom of major asset class rankings in 2026, marking an unprecedented joint bottom finish. According to data from Creative Planning strategist Charlie Bilello, Bitcoin is down 7.3% to 8% year-to-date around $80,155, while gold has fallen 7.5% to test support near $4,000. Both non-yielding assets have lagged behind short-term U.S. Treasury bills' 2.9% return, large-cap U.S. equities' 12.3% gain, and a 52.5% surge in broader commodities. The slump follows prior peaks, including Bitcoin's high above $125,000 and gold's retreat from earlier levels above $5,400.
