Bitcoin Core Revises Security Disclosure Rules to Accelerate Fixes for AI-Discoverable Vulnerabilities

Bitcoin Core maintainers have merged a policy update ending long embargoes to fast-track patches and public advisories for software flaws easily identified by artificial intelligence tools. Under the revised framework, flaws classified as easily discoverable will immediately receive backported point releases across all supported versions alongside concurrent security advisories. The protocol shift follows tests where automated AI scans identified thousands of vulnerabilities across ecosystem codebases. Maintainers previously withheld medium- and high-severity bug disclosures for up to a year, but prolonged secrecy has become counterproductive as large language models make rediscovering flaws trivial.
