Charles Schwab Opens Direct Spot Bitcoin and Ether Trading to Retail Clients

Charles Schwab has rolled out direct spot Bitcoin and Ether trading across its platform to more than 40 million retail clients. The brokerage giant, which oversees $13.33 trillion in client assets across 40.3 million active accounts, completed the feature alongside staged on-chain crypto transfers. Trading incurs a flat 0.75% transaction fee on orders between $1 and $2 million, with trade execution and sub-custody provided by Paxos. The service excludes residents of New York, Louisiana, U.S. territories, and international jurisdictions, while Schwab plans to add Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink by year-end 2026.
