DTCC Launches Institutional Tokenized Securities Service on Canton and Private Besu Networks

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has launched its institutional tokenization service, Digital Trade Solution (DTS), across the Canton Network and a private network built on Ethereum client Hyperledger Besu. The rollout explicitly excludes the public Ethereum mainnet. The platform enables eligible financial institutions to convert traditional custody securities into digital tokens representing standard ownership rights. Supported by a prior SEC no-action letter, the service launched with 20 major institutions, including JPMorgan and Citi, covering 34 eligible securities worth approximately $30 trillion in market value, with conversion targeted within 15 minutes.
