Ethereum developers pause Glamsterdam Hoodi testnet upgrade over smart contract gas-security risks

Ethereum core developers have postponed the Glamsterdam upgrade deployment on the Hoodi testnet, previously scheduled for October 26 at epoch 132,352. The delay follows findings by ChainSecurity showing that gas accounting changes in EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 threaten at least 13 real-world smart contracts with transaction underflows, false success reporting, and griefing risks. The postponement leaves the planned early-December mainnet upgrade timetable indefinite and halts a planned 200 million-gas limit increase on Hoodi. Developers and auditors are reviewing whether to modify decentralized applications or rewrite protocol specifications.
