Grayscale Reports Bitcoin Volatility Falls to 43%, Aligning With S&P 500 Equities

Bitcoin's one-year realized volatility has dropped to 43%, falling below its 10-year historical average of 64% and down from 81% five years ago, according to research from Grayscale. Reports present conflicting comparisons to the S&P 500, stating Bitcoin is less volatile than either 19% or 57% of constituent companies. Grayscale attributed the structural volatility compression to deepening liquidity, regulated spot ETFs, and institutional adoption. Meanwhile, Bitcoin traded near $82,485, approximately 35% below its peak of $126,080, while Fidelity Digital Assets observed a record correlation above 0.6 between Bitcoin and 10-year US Treasury real yields.
