Meta Partners With Chinese Startup Fourier to Build Humanoid Robot Prototypes

Meta Platforms has built a prototype humanoid robot named Max in collaboration with Chinese startup Fourier and started developing an updated iteration, Max 2, in September. The initial 106-pound, 1.5-metre tall robot was assembled in three months, runs on Nvidia's Jetson Thor chip, and was demonstrated internally in late August. Meta's robotics vice president spent roughly two months at Fourier's Shanghai facility overseeing development. The initiative expands Meta's presence in physical artificial intelligence, though Meta clarified the project currently focuses on internal research rather than immediate commercial sales.
