Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Purchase Budget to ¥33.422 Billion and Repurchases Shares

Metaplanet has expanded its planned Bitcoin acquisition budget to ¥33.422 billion from ¥25.422 billion by redirecting ¥8 billion freed from early redemption of its Series 20 ordinary bonds. Concurrently, the Tokyo-listed company repurchased 96.45 million shares for ¥25.269 billion under a ¥60 billion authorization approved in October 2026. Buybacks were funded partly via ¥52 billion in convertible bonds due in 2031, which also aim to trim Bitcoin-collateralized borrowing from 17.7% toward its 10% NAV target. As of September 30, 2026, Metaplanet held 44,000 BTC with an average cost basis of $98,454 per coin.
