Mysterious Poetic Messages Appear on Bitcoin Network Using Expanded OP_RETURN Limits

An anonymous entity has embedded repeated poetic messages onto the Bitcoin blockchain, taking advantage of expanded OP_RETURN data carrier limits. Galaxy Research identified 28 related mystery messages over a 12-day timeframe, including 26 duplicate copies of a haiku-like text stored in 103-byte payloads. Individual transactions, such as a 100-byte message recorded in block 971,914 on October 17 for 253 satoshis, exceed the previous 83-byte default limit. The activity involved 28 deposits and 14 round trips with a custodial service, generating just 8,015 satoshis in mining fees, and is accommodated under Bitcoin Core 30.0's 100,000-byte threshold.
