Starknet Launches Governance Vote on Transitioning From Ethereum Layer 2 to Layer 1

Starknet has opened a non-binding seven-day community governance vote to explore transitioning from an Ethereum Layer-2 network into an independent Layer-1 blockchain over quantum computing risks. The proposal, which authorizes technical research rather than an immediate migration, keeps the native STRK token unchanged alongside active Ethereum bridges. This development follows announcements regarding Starknet's architectural roadmap that sent STRK rallying 82.6% over seven days, expanding its market capitalization from $360 million to $807 million in four days while Ethereum fell 5.1% and Bitcoin dropped 1.7%.
