Ukraine Resumes Refinery Strikes as Trump's Energy Ceasefire Plan Collapses

Ukraine struck Russia's Ryazan refinery, ending a brief three-day pause and unraveling a proposed energy ceasefire announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump had claimed an energy truce on Oct. 11 alongside plans to import 4.8 million tons of Russian diesel, causing Brent crude to drop to $102.84. However, Kyiv resumed drone attacks after accusing Moscow of sustained strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure, including an overnight barrage of over 500 drones. The Rosneft-owned Ryazan facility accounts for about 5% of Russian refining throughput, renewing supply disruption risks across global crude and diesel markets.
