Three Tankers En Route to US as Russian Diesel Shipments Expand Under Bilateral Deal

Three tankers carrying roughly 140,000 tonnes of Russian diesel are sailing to U.S. ports, marking the first tracked Russian refined product shipments bound for American terminals since July 2023. The flows follow an agreement between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin supported by a six-month U.S. sanctions waiver to curb fuel costs as domestic retail diesel reached $6.34 per gallon. Russian refiners increased output toward 180,000 tons daily to supply the pact, which targets an immediate 300,000 tonnes followed by 500,000 tonnes in November, despite fierce bipartisan congressional opposition.
