Wealth Managers Boost Spot Bitcoin ETF Holdings in Early Third-Quarter Filings

Wealth managers and investment advisory platforms are expanding spot Bitcoin ETF allocations, absorbing exposure from hedge funds that exited basis trades. Early third-quarter 13F filings show 13 of the first 20 reporting holders added shares, led by SigFig Wealth Management's new $73.9 million allocation into BlackRock's IBIT fund. Across approximately 773 money managers who filed by late October, holdings totaled roughly 23,300 BTC in US spot ETFs. Market participants now await the November 16 filing deadline, when institutional managers holding an estimated 154,000 BTC-equivalent must disclose their third-quarter positions.
