Amazon Blocks Meta's Muse Shopping Bot as Rivals Walmart and Shopify Partner

Amazon has blocked Meta Platforms' newly launched AI shopping agent, Muse, from completing direct purchases on its marketplace, citing cybersecurity, fraud, and data privacy concerns. In contrast, retail rivals Walmart and Shopify have embraced partnerships and integrations with Meta to support autonomous shopping bots. Meta's Muse has surpassed 10 million users across the U.S. and Canada within six weeks of its September rollout, posing a potential competitive threat to Amazon's core retail dominance and its nearly $70 billion advertising business. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy downplayed the risk, noting Alexa for Shopping engaged over 400 million users last year.
